The Israel Green Movement is reaching out to the English speaking community in Israel. New York Times Columnist Tom Friedman states the case that applies so well to Israel as it does to the United States:
“Because a new green ideology, properly defined, has the power to mobilize liberals and conservatives, evangelicals and atheists, big business and environmentalists around an agenda that can both pull us together and propel us forward. That’s why I say: …We need the first environmental president.”
The Israel Green Movement understands that many Anglos have brought to Israel many positive values and ethics, including environmental awareness, commitment to democratic process and concern for social and economic justice. But Anglos in Israel, like many immigrant groups, have had a difficult time breaking into the political establishment in Israel in the past. The Israel Green Movement leadership is comprised of many native English speakers that have made Israel their home and are concerned about those harmed by environmental and social injustice.
Now we have an opportunity for all Anglos in Israel to make yourself heard as political equals and join the Israel Green Movement on the ground floor. Now is the time to join like-minded Israelis of all stripes and bring our representatives to the halls of Israeli Parliament.
If you are interested in joining the movement or in volunteering some time to contact other English speakers, please contact Dr Bob Goldwasser, Director of Anglo Outreach at DrBobGoldwasser – at – gmail.com. We need your help in spreading the word about the Israel Green Movement. Join us and start now building a just and sustainable Israel.
